I began this blog series in attempts to hold myself accountable and push myself to do what I have been trying to do for years: write a novel. In the end, I did keep myself accountable through biweekly TikTok blogs, but between actually writing the first draft and beginning college, this blog has fallen off the wayside. So what have I been doing, and where do I hope to go with this website?
I’ll answer the first part of the that question now. I was working to maintain a healthy balance of schoolwork, social life, and hobbies for my first semester at college. They aren’t kidding when they say engineering isn’t for the weak. There were times I genuinely felt as if my chemistry gen ed would weed me out no matter that I actually liked the material. Luckily it didn’t, and now, I have a better idea of what to expect for the spring semester.
I still continued to work on my novel but in small bits and pieces in between classes and at night before I went to bed. There were many times I posted my vlogs on Tiktok to say I wrote nothing. But progress is progress, even if it feels insanely slow.
One day I would love for this website to host links to buy a copy of my book. Unfortunately, that day is a long way off, so in the meantime, I plan on using this as a monthly written update of all my progress and goals towards my WIP which now has a name : A Conspiracy of Blood and Power. By the end of 2023, start of 2024, I’d love to have a cover to accompany that title. Before I can do that, though, I have to have a decently tangible draft to send out to editors and beta readers.
